About Rumos

Rumos is a crypto app for people who are curious about crypto but don’t want to guess. If you’ve heard about Bitcoin and never quite understood how it works, you’re in the right place.

The idea is simple: understand first, then decide. Short lessons explain crypto step by step, in plain language: what it is, how buying and holding it works, and what can go wrong. When you feel ready, and only if you want to, you can buy, sell and hold crypto in the same app.

Rumos is available in the EU and the US. It is powered by a regulated custody partner: in the EU, a crypto-asset service provider licensed by Germany’s financial regulator (BaFin) under MiCA; in the US, a regulated trust company. Your crypto and your cash balance are held with this partner. You’ll find the partner’s name in the app under Settings.

Rumo is Portuguese for course, heading or direction: the way you choose to go. That’s what Rumos wants to give you, a sense of direction before you act, never a push to act.

Rumos was started by people who saw that many who are curious about crypto never get started, because most crypto apps assume you already understand it. So Rumos turns the order around: learn, understand, choose, and keep learning. Or, in one line: don’t own what you don’t understand.

What you’ll find:

• Lessons in the Workshops section, in short steps with questions and flashcards.
• A daily quiz that brings back what you’ve learned.
• Learning mode: tap the lightbulb on some screens for a tip.
• Buying and selling, when you decide you’re ready.

Rumos explains; it doesn’t tell you what to do. You won’t find tips on which coin will go up next, price predictions or promises of profit in these lessons, because nobody can know those things.

What you will find is how crypto works, what the risks are and which questions are worth asking before you buy anything. The decisions are always yours.

A few habits will serve you well from day one:

• Only use money you can afford to lose.
• Take your time. You never have to buy anything in a hurry.
• Be careful with anyone who promises quick or guaranteed profits, online or in person.
• Keep your password, PIN and one-time codes to yourself. Rumos will never ask for your password, your PIN, your one-time codes or a recovery phrase.

Crypto prices can rise and fall sharply, and you could lose some or all of the money you put in. Crypto is not covered by deposit protection. This lesson is education, not financial advice.
