What is DCA?
Start small, and keep it steady.
What is DCA, and how would it have worked for Ethereum?
DCA stands for dollar-cost averaging. You buy a fixed amount at regular times, like $25 every week, whatever the price is. When the price is low the same money buys more, and when it's high it buys less, so you don't have to guess the right moment.
- Why people use itIt takes out the guesswork, and small regular amounts are easier to keep up.
- What it can't doIt doesn't guarantee a profit. If the price keeps falling, you can still lose money.
- Set it and let it runA recurring buy in the app repeats on its own. Check in now and then, and change the amount if your plans change.
A quick example
$100 a month for 3 months, with made-up prices
| Month | You put in | Price | You get (BTC) |
|---|---|---|---|
| January | $100 | $50,000 | 0.00200 |
| February | $100 | $40,000 | 0.00250 |
| March | $100 | $60,000 | 0.00167 |
| Total | $300 | 0.00617 |
Same $100 each month: the lower the price, the more ETH you get.
Your average price: $48,649
That's lower than the $50,000 average of the three prices, because the same $100 bought more when the price was low.

How do I buy Ethereum in the US?
In short: Download the Rumos app; Add dollars; Buy Ethereum; Hold it or set a recurring buy. You can start with a small amount, and the app explains each step.
Is Ethereum safe?
The risk people usually mean is price: ETH can move sharply in a single day. How Ethereum is run also matters, so read what it is above. Only put in what you'd be comfortable losing while you learn.
Is Ethereum a good investment for beginners?
No one can promise that — ETH's price can rise or fall sharply, and past performance is never a guarantee. What you can control is how you invest: many beginners buy a small amount on a regular schedule (called dollar-cost averaging) instead of trying to time the market, and only invest what they can afford to lose. Treat Ethereum as a long-term way to learn, not a get-rich-quick bet.
Can I buy a small amount?
Yes. You don't need to buy a whole ETH. Coins are divisible to many decimal places, so you can buy a small part of one.
Where is my ETH stored?
When you buy through Rumos, your ETH is kept with our regulated custody partner BitGo, in segregated accounts. You manage it in the Rumos app.
What can I actually do with it?
Hold it, swap it for other coins in the app, or set up a weekly recurring buy. Sending to an outside wallet isn't available yet.
What's the difference between Bitcoin and Ethereum?
Bitcoin is digital money. Ethereum is a platform that runs programs (called smart contracts), which can do things like power apps, games, and financial tools. Many people own both for different reasons.
